After discussing my chair made from recycled clothing, I developed the idea – taking singular items which we wear and manipulating them to look like chairs. I looked at some works, which look at replicating objects.

Looking at the different ways the chair can be depicted.

Thinking about the concept ‘Wear a Chair’, I considered flipping the idea on its head, and developing a chair made of ware. Due to my previous research my ideas were going along the lines of a chair that still held all its characteristics, but was made from recycled clothing.

To become acquainted with the field guide, our new surroundings and the students which populate, we were tested with a two-day project:
‘A small print on a mailbox becomes something precious when you remove all the noise around it and isolate it from it’s setting.’ (Merel Karhof, Project two). Explore familiar or alien surroundings by isolating, documenting and displaying anything you think will create a new awareness of the landscape.
Exploring Bournville, taking a strong interest with the Cadbury Factory and it’s Quaker history. This quaint village, built to provide a clean healthy environment for Cadbury’s employees, has a significant sense of confinement. I choose to focus on the fencing, locks, and wire surrounding the factory.
Isolating these items the characteristics of restriction and boundary are diminished. They appear precious, completely removed from the purpose they were made for. I then developed them using very thin wire, which could be developed more using the shapes to create a jewelry piece.
